Goodness, what can I say about this amazing day? From my first meeting with bride-to-be Samantha, I felt like we were fast friends, bonding over our love of dogs and endless laughter. After many years together, Kevin & Sam were planning an exciting getaway to Alaska - that impending trip prompted them to decide to turn it into their honeymoon and tie the knot on the Thursday before they left! Arriving to the Arboretum, Sam and her mom Kim were looking fabulous and already having the best day ever. The details came together so perfectly with a lot of hard work from the ladies of Lilacs & Lace! I especially loved the inclusion of grouse feathers and Alaskan white roses in Sam's bouquet. Kevin arrived and after many attempts at tying his tie, we found a random gentleman to help instead! I took the sharply dressed couple out to take advantage of the many backdrops the Arboretum has to offer for some wedding day portraits. A favorite spot was by waterfall with pine trees which felt very Northern Minnesota/Alaksan-esque to us! These two are so easy to photograph together, it was a joy to take their portraits. After trying to avoid some rain showers that kept popping up out of nowhere, we headed down to the Weeping Willow Garden for the ceremony. Under these draping willow trees was the most perfect spot for an intimate wedding ceremony! There were plenty of laughs shared and cheers as Kevin & Sam were pronounced husband and wife! Such a perfect and low-key way to celebrate these two. The green gardens made a great backdrop for a variety of group photos and a few more portraits of the newlyweds before heading to Lola's Lakehouse in Waconia, MN. The reception space was set up so beautifully with soft greenery, bundt cakes, and a surprise wooden puppy portrait for the couple. A delicious dinner was served as the guests enjoyed each other's company and even some speeches. Of course we couldn't end the day without some sunset portraits on the docks. Congratulations, Kevin & Sam! It was truly a joy to capture your unique wedding day!
