mankato mn engagement session | mevlin & brittany [engaged!]

A fresh spring evening at Minneopa Falls outside of Mankato, MN was the perfect backdrop to capture Melvin & Brittany's love story for their engagement photos. This fun-loving couple is always giggling and smiling at each other, making my job easy! We started off their photos by the big waterfall which made for some fun antics - sign language was the only way to communicate over the roaring water. Once we were farther from the rushing falls, I enjoyed hearing about how they met through friends downtown. A few years later, Melvin popped the big question by first sending Brittany to town to pick up food (which totally tipped her off that something was up) and then put signs all over their yard and dressing up their daughter as an engagement ring! What a funny guy. While we were exploring the trails at the park, I loved how Brittany's blue eyes popped against her bright red hair. We found this huge cut out rock wall which allowed me to step back and give these two a quiet moment, until it was disrupted by a band of teenagers romping down the steps. (Apparently this is the place for high schoolers to hang out on Friday night.) This led to a discussion about having to Google what YOLO meant and how we suddenly felt much older than we did when we met at Martin Luther High School back in the day. We wrapped up the engagement session with a final clothing change into comfy, causal, very Melvin-and-Brittany sweatshirts. I had a lovely evening with this couple and am looking forward to their December wedding!
